Preserved- Native Arizona Plants dipped in Porcelain slip, Letterpress tray, 2022
This work started as an exploration and preservation of native plants based in Northern Arizona. The start of this project, on-going, came about during the pandemic when isolation and distancing forced society to a standstill. This work is not directly speaking about the pandemic but rather about what we as humans find valuable or disposable. These plants, all typically considered weeds by most, were collected in the winter when active growth was paused. The permanent nature of clay speaks to the idea of preserving a moment in time and adding value to the overlooked.
